5 WAYS TO WEAR ALL WHITE

Untitled design-3

Did you know that wearing a full tonal outfit – one colour from head to toe – makes you look taller?! A handy fashion tip that little 5 ft 4” me was very happy to learn… I’ll take all the help I can get to make my legs look a couple of inches longer! I know that some people will avoid the all-white look in the fear of spilling a mouthful of food right down the front, or accidently stepping in a mis-judged puddle… But grab a napkin and mind your step because the all-white look is one that I don’t see going anywhere any time soon! Here are five ways that you can work this trend into your wardrobe.

Enjoy, Amber x

LOOK 1. Jump into it

We all love an easy outfit and a jumpsuit is one of the best examples of this. Pull it on and off you go! Tall, short, hourglass or pear shaped, there’s pretty much a jumpsuit style to suit everyone. My personal favourite at the moment is the utility look, like this Bershka number, given a feminine touch with its puff-sleeves, waist belt detail and tapered legs. Pair with a pointed toe shoe with a small heel to elevate the feminine aspects or throw on some trainers for a more relaxed vibe.

LOOK 2. Dress up

If a jumpsuit isn’t your style or you’re more of a dress person, then few things are quite as timeless as a beautiful crisp white dress. Still as easy to throw on, the perfect white dress can make you look pulled together with minimal effort. This season opt for pieces with statement features, textured ruffles, power puff-sleeves and the ever classic broderie anglaise. Regardless of your budget, the perfect dress is out there for you; looking to go all out? Then Zimmermann is where to go, a quality high-street staple? H&M is the one for you, or feeling extra cautious with your money? Then Boohoo and Nastygal have some great options too.

LOOK 3. It’s all in the details

Yes, less sometimes is more, but sometimes more is more and sometimes, we’re caught somewhere in the middle. Picture this, you’re going out somewhere nice for dinner, you want to look smart but not over dressed, you have a work event to attend and want to look professional but not stuffy, or you’re going for Sunday brunch with the girls and want to be comfortable but not lazy and unpresentable… how much more is the right amount? Well first off, pulling out an all-white look generally looks pretty pulled together, it can give off an air of sophistication and expense, that being said however, the details in your outfit can be make or break. Wide leg white trousers are a classic, they’re elegant yet comfortable and can be dressed up or down accordingly. Worn with flat sandals and a long-sleeved blouse, with simple embroidery detailing, adds femininity and modesty. Whereas worn with high-heels and a spaghetti-strapped camisole adds glamour and sensuality. Choose your details depending on your occasion and your mood.

LOOK 4. Simply structured

A simple tonal outfit doesn’t need to be boring. Playing with shapes and structures can make the simplest outfits the chicest and sometimes even, dare I say it, cool. If there’s one item I can never have enough of in my wardrobe it’s white shirts and, if you haven’t already gathered, the must have addition to the white shirt for this season is… the puff-sleeve. The bigger the better where this trend is concerned! Great for creating the illusion of a smaller waist by broadening the top half of your frame, puff-sleeves can vamp up the old favourite ‘jeans and a nice top’ for just about any occasion. Oh, and as for those jeans, they don’t need to be boring either! Mix up your denim styles, with wide leg culottes, straight leg ankle grazers and raw hemmed mom jeans all leaving the infamous skinnies fighting for the spotlight.

LOOK 5. Boucle or brioche

In my opinion, you can never have too many cute little jackets, and until the day that I can afford a real Chanel boucle jacket, I’ll continue to buy the Zara, Mango and Co’s alternatives that grace the high-street racks each year. A jacket has as much importance to making an outfit as any other component. Imagine an outfit like a really good cheeseburger, the brioche bun is what brings it all together, just like a jacket does for an outfit. Wow, Chanel and cheeseburgers in one paragraph, that’s got to be a first! So consider this when completing your all-white outfit. This NA-KD fashion safari jacket is perfect for Summer evening attire and is a hero piece in its own right, keeping you warm whilst looking chic with its oversized pocket details, waist belt and Chanel-like woven structure.
